Magoun Landing Civic Association
MLCA 2012 Membership Drive Print E-mail

As the current  MLCA president, for the last three years, I find myself reflecting on the purpose of our civic association and what role we play within our community.
This past year, we have connected with more organizations within West Islip than ever before.  This helps to make our collective voices even louder when we need to be heard by our community leaders.  Our civic association not only provides neighborhood benefits that we can see everyday, but we also strive to make a difference for others in West Islip.
MLCA membership and energy has begun to grow again with many of you who have asked to be more active and take on new leadership roles.  It’s that kind of spirit that has enabled us to continue as an organization for more than 50 years.

Each year, the Board and I reach out to you to continue to be an active member by sending in your 2012 dues by February 29th to ensure we can meet our expense obligations.
For those that are not members, I encourage you to read the newsletter sent to your home recently to see all of the wonderful accomplishments over past year and our plans for 2012.
If you want to continue to have a strong voice in our community and maintain the very unique and beautiful neighborhood that is Magoun Landing, I encourage you to mail your dues, which remain at $200, to our Treasurer, Bill Harbert or online through PayPal.

Please continue to support your civic association in 2012!
Scott Wiatrak, MLCA President

Safer Road Crossing Needed Print E-mail

As many of you are already aware, the Montauk Highway crossing between Wagstaff and Barberry that our high school children must take each morning and afternoon is so busy with fast moving traffic that the latest in a long line of accidents occurred on 10/24 with a crossing guard present.  Below is a link to an online petition we've created that sends an email to our Superintendent of Schools, Richard Simon, our Islip Town Supervisor, Phil Nolan, and our State Senator, Owen Johnson each time someone signs it.  Please take a moment to consider signing the petition expressing your concerns and any solutions you would like to propose. Feel free to forward this link on to other organizations and friends to help get to our goal of a thousand signatures.

Welcome to Magoun Landing! Print E-mail

Magoun Landing Civic Association (MLCA) was established in 1950 to bring neighbors together and provide a sense of community.

AnchorOur MLCA community is uniquely situated along the south shore of Long Island in West Islip with unparalleled access to the Great South Bay, Robert Moses beaches and the Fire Island Lighthouse.  Established almost 60 years ago, the Magoun Landing Civic Association represents a wonderful community of families that continue to preserve the quality of life started so long ago by the original members.

Our goals for the MLCA are to provide a wealth of local history, common area beautification and timely community information to our members.  If you are new to the neighborhood or are thinking of our community as part of your Long Island lifestyle, please enjoy learning about the exciting past, present and future of Magoun Landing and our civic association.
